Regeneration creates ash that will eventually fill the filter. If the ash is not removed there will not be an acceptable amount of air flow. The filter could get too hot and melt.
OEM standards are pneumatic and thermal cleaning. Some liquid cleaners can remove the base metal coating poisoning your exhaust system making it no longer able to function properly. Not using a professional company with the correct equipment can damage or destroy your after treatment system.
